PRP Injections

Platelet Rich Plasma (Harvest SmartPrep3)

A complete multi-cellular platform with Cell Capture Technology, the SmartPrep 3 system quickly and efficiently collects and delivers the optimal concentration and composition of the patient’s own regenerative cells at the point-of-care. In less than 15 minutes from the time they are collected, concentrated cells are ready for use.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous biologic derived from whole blood that is preferentially enriched for platelets. While platelets are the primary component of PRP, preparations may also contain other cellular components such as white blood cells (WBCs) and circulating progenitor cells. These components all play a biological role in the healing process and are provided at concentrated levels in PRP. Thus, PRP may help optimize the conditions for soft tissue and bone healing.

Conditions treated by PRP:

  • Osteoarthritis of all joints in the body (commonly performed on hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, wrist, thumb)
  • Tendinosis or chronic tendinopathy
  • Rotator cuff tear in the shoulder
  • Meniscus tears in knees
  • Labral tears in hips and shoulder
  • Tennis Elbow, Golfers Elbow
  • Patellar tendinopathy/jumpers knee
  • Achilles tendinopathy, partial Achilles tendon tear
  • Plantar fasciitis, plantar fascia tear
  • TFCC or scapholunate tears of the wrist
  • Any much more

How is it PRP made?

The Harvest Platelet Concentrate System includes the essential components to generate PRP, which may help optimize the conditions for healing. The process to make PRP starts with a step similar to donating blood, but a much smaller volume of blood is taken (typically 30 mL to 60 mL). Processing the sample takes less than 15 minutes.

The Harvest SmartPrep3 provides one of the highest concentrations of platelet growth factors. This is imperative for delivering the maximum number of growth factors to the site of the injection thereby increasing its action. We also offer a clear PRP (used for joints) which is without red blood cells and white blood cells. The presence of red blood cells in a PRP solution may lead to inflammation and pain for the patient during and immediately following treatment. Clear PRP enables the efficient removal of 99% of red cell content from your PRP preparation in less than 5 minutes, while retaining over 85% of original platelets. The result is highly concentrated PRP with 0.5% hematocrit.
